Overview

Frank Volpicelli, MD completed his residency in internal medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center where he graduated from the clinician-educator track and served as primary care chief resident at the West Roxbury VA. He graduated AOA from Albert Einstein College of Medicine and has a BA from the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr Volpicelli’s academic work has largely centered around healthcare delivery science, value, quality, and safety. He is a hospitalist with a decade of leadership experience in healthcare. He first started a Clinical Lead for Value Based Management at NYU and in that role led work around reducing waste in hospital-based healthcare. This work was eventually published in BMJ quality and safety as well as generating other project-based publications. He then took on the role of Chief of Medicine at NYU Langone - Brooklyn shortly after the full asset merger of NYU with Lutheran Medical Center. He served in this role through the Covid pandemic and beyond until moving to NYP. In that role he helped transform that hospital from a leap frog C and lower quartile performer in vizient to a leap frog A and vizient top 10 in its cohort. This work was published in JAMA open network. He added the responsibility of ACMO after the Covid pandemic, focusing on quality and reputation.

Dr Volpicelli joined NYP as CMO of the Columbia Sphere in January of 2023 and oversees patient flow, PA services, case management and social work, PPOC as well as quality of care and efficiency.
